The Quiet That Follows Victory

By: Ryan Shaw

Easter Sunday is powerful. We celebrate that Jesus is alive. We sing, we worship, and we remember the empty tomb. It feels strong and full of hope. But then Easter ends. Life goes back to normal. Monday comes. The same problems are still there. The same worries are still there. The excitement fades, and things feel quiet again.

This is where many of us struggle. We know Jesus is risen. We believe it is true. But we do not always feel it in our daily lives. We expect everything to feel different, but sometimes it does not. That can be confusing. It can make us question our faith. But this is a normal part of following Christ.

After the resurrection, the disciples also struggled. They were not bold right away. They were unsure and even afraid. Scripture tells us, “That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders” (John 20:19). Even after hearing that Jesus was alive, fear and uncertainty were still present.

Thomas is a clear example of this struggle. He said he would not believe unless he saw Jesus himself. “I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands… and place my hand into the wound in his side” (John 20:25). When Jesus came to him, He met him in that doubt. Then Jesus spoke words that reach us today: “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me” (John 20:29).

This is where we live now. We have not seen Jesus with our eyes. We do not stand at the empty tomb. But we are still called to believe. Our faith is not built on what we feel in a moment. It is built on the truth of who Jesus is and what He has done. The Bible reminds us, “For we live by believing and not by seeing” (2 Corinthians 5:7).

After Easter, life may feel quiet. It may feel normal again. But the truth has not changed. Jesus is still alive. The resurrection is still real. Our hope is still secure. Even when we do not feel it, God is still with us. As Jesus promised, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).

The Christian life is not just about the celebration of Easter. It is about living every day in light of the resurrection. It is about trusting Jesus in the quiet moments. It is about choosing to believe when we cannot see.

If things feel quiet right now, you are not alone. This is where faith grows. This is where we learn to trust God more. We do not need noise or big moments to follow Him. We just need to keep believing.

Jesus is risen. That is true yesterday, today, and every day after Easter.
